With
threadrolling taps from sizes; 000-120 to 1"-12
as standard stock, we doubt that you'll not find the
"threadfloer" to suit your threading application.
These standard taps are also stock in "H"
limits varying from H2 to H14. If metric threads is
what you need, BALAX also
manufactures standard sizes from; M1.6 x .35 to
M12 x 1.75 in "D" limits ranging from D2 to
D12.
Some of the major advantages
of "cold forming" or "thread rolling"
tap over regular cut taps are; Chipless tapping, Stronger
threads, Better thread gaging, Stronger taps, Longer
tap life, More efficient production also thread forming
taps are ideal non-lead screw tappers. They have the
ability to form their own leads which works well in
NC machines or other machines without lead screws.
Does
this mean that thread cutting taps should not be used?
Of course not. There are many applications where a cut
tap will work just as well as thread forming taps where
thread forming is not as applicable. For instance, according
to BALAX, High carbon steels
are better threaded with a gun or slow spiral fluted
cut tap. The same is suggested for Nickel alloys. Also,
for magnesium you would use similar cut taps, and so
on. For a complete summary of BALAX
taps and their applications, Click

One
can not mention Threading or tapping with out bringing
up the necessity of thread gages. ISO 9000 is here and
here to stay. With that in mind, having the proper BALAX
gage to go with the BALAX
threading tool you are using is a very logical move
for any manufacturer. |

Did we mention BALAX manufactures
a line of high quality roughing endmills?
All flutes on these roughers are ground from a solid
blank on multi-axis CNC grinders which result in: Exact
flute location and indexing, very accurate cutting edge
geometry, precise flute helix angle, and polished flute
surface finish.
These
great tools range in sizes from 1/4" to 1-1/4".
