Starrett Product User Manuals - 9/27/2012 10:09:08 AM
The L.S. Starrett Company was founded 1880 in Athol, MA, which is still the Company’s World Headquarters. Founder, Laroy S. Starrett invented the combination square in 1877. He started the company to manufacture this product. The company grew rapidly with a broadening product line, additional employees and penetration into an increasing number of markets. Starrett has a history and reputation so rich and solid that the words “quality” and “Starrett” have become virtually synonymous. Today, the company employs about 1,800 people worldwide. Most precision tools continue to be manufactured in the Athol plant, where it is not uncommon to see devoted generations of toolmakers with 30 or more years of experience. The broad Starrett product line includes precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, rules, etc.), levels, electronic gages, dial indicators, gage blocks and granite surface plates and custom engineered products. The company offers metrology equipment including optical measuring projectors, vision systems and multi-sensor measuring systems, many of which are custom engineered. The precision group also includes M1 lubricant, precision ground flat stock and drill rod. Starrett hand measuring tools and other precision products are used by manufacturing companies of many types and sizes to ensure the quality of their products While best known for precision tools in the United States, Starrett is also a major, worldwide manufacturer of saw blade products. The saw blade product group includes three categories. Band saw blades are used primarily in manufacturing facilities. The Power Tool Accessories and Hand Saws group include hole saws, jig and reciprocating blades and hacksaw products. The jobsite and workshop group includes tape measures, levels, protractors and other tools used primarily on construction jobsites and workshops Starrett tools are essential for the many products that are measured, cut, formed or assembled. They are used in a broad range of manufacturing facilities as an essential part of metalworking, the manufacturing of durable goods, for working with exotic materials and in a wide variety of traditional and newer industries such as electronics, aerospace, energy and many others

Simonds New X-51™ Bi-Metal Bandsaw Blade
Simonds New X-51™ Bi-Metal Bandsaw Blade - 8/15/2012 4:00:57 PM
Designed to handle the high temperatures generated when cutting exotic alloys and tough materials, New X-51™ Bi-Metal Bandsaw Blades from Simonds International last longer than regular M42 blades reducing blade replacement costs and blade changeover frequency. X-51 Bandsaw Blades feature M51 tooth tips to provide longer blade life cutting through cast iron, tool steel, die steel, stainless steel, nickel based alloys, titanium, Inconel and other exotic alloys. With its superior combination of cobalt and tungsten at the cutting edge combined with a fatigue-resistant blade backer, X-51 is designed for high resistance to frictional heat failure at the tooth tip. Steel service centers and production cutting operations will find the X-51 blades perfect for longer runs and cutting of large cross sections and high-temperature alloys. X-51 blades assist users in their quest to "Never Yield To Steel". Simonds' X-51 blades are available in three blade widths of 1", 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" and come in a variety of tooth pitch configurations from 2-3, 3-4 and 4-6 teeth per inch for maximum operator flexibility based upon the materials being cut in their particular setting. The X-51 Bi-Metal Bandsaw Blades are available with Simonds' patented Sine-Wave® technology which provides an aggressive broaching action in the cut, enhancing cutting ability, reducing work time and increasing blade life. It incorporates a series of "ramps" on the back edge of bandsaw blades, which allows bandsaw machines to exert more force into a cut without increasing machine pressure. The "rocking" motion of SineWave ensures less tooth-to-work piece contact which increases penetration for faster cutting.
